Renegade!

This weekend the Cupcake and I ventured into the city to attend the Renegade Craft Fair.  Man, I love Renegade.  I start counting down around the end of July for the second weekend in September.  I'm a nerd.  I can't help it.  Cupcake pointed out that Renegade to me is equivalent to ComicCon for him.  Although, I got lucky because I can nerd out for both ComicCon and Renegade.  Ah, the joys of being a total nerd.
Oh, Renegade.  I'm sad you are over so soon.
I met up with the Rebel Craft League girls at Starbucks where I got the cutest travel mug.  I know.  I was supposed to be buying handmade all day.  I couldn't help myself.  There was a mermaid on the mug and a sparkly metallic background.  I'm weak!
I think the RCL should have a fight song.
I also met up with the adorable Dr. Northway and her sister.  Dr. Northway is opening up a store! We'll talk more about that at a later date.
That's me and Dr. Northway.  (Dr. Northway isn't really a doctor.)
I was able to meet some of my favorite bloggers.  There was Jessie from www.cakespy.com.  Do you read CakeSpy?  If you like baking, you should really read it.  There are cute illustrations, bakery tours and butter, butter and more butter.  I bought her cookbook at Renegade.  She signed it.  It was radical.  Freals.
Buy it here!

I also totally bumped into Rachel from Smile and Wave and Elsie from A Beautiful Mess.  There were in a booth I was entering.  I was thinking to myself, "How cute are those girls?" then I went to "Wait!  I know those girls!"  Then I promptly made a huge dork of myself and told them how I read their blogs everyday and blah, blah, blah.  Oh man.  I sure know how to keep my cool.  (not really)

Cupcake bought me a cardinal necklace from AviFauna.  I love her jewelry.  I have about ten pieces.

After SIX HOURS at Renegade, Cupcake and I were ready for a break.  We headed over to the local comic book shop and picked up Mr. Cake's comics for the past month.  He was excited.  Know what I was excited for?

Bleeding Heart Bakery moved in about 5 blocks from our apartment around the time we were moving 30 miles from our apartment.  It's probably a good thing.  Actually, it's a really good thing we moved 30 miles from this place. A bakery of that caliber within walking distance could not have been a good thing.

From BHB, we went to One Strange Bird.  It's this groovy store that isn't open to the general public yet.  It's only open to special people, like me, for right now.  I'll be sure to let you all know when this store opens.  It's going to be radical.  Swear.

After One Strange Bird, we ventured over to Rotofugi.  Guess what?  They were having a toy opening!  Yay!
Gorilla: "Yay!"
We wandered around a bit, decided we did not need (although, we really wanted to need them) toys that were designed to be throw backs of vintage Japanese toys.  I don't know what it is about them, but I love Japanese toys.  It must be the clear plastic, metallic paint or their eyeballs.  I don't know exactly what appeals to me, but I want one.  I want one bad.  Problem is, these toys are REALLY expensive.  Does anyone know why these toys are so expensive?  I'd love to know.

So that was my Saturday.  It was a really fun, productive and tasty day in the city.  I miss the city.

Coming up next week: Dear Suburbs, I Like You.
